Deja Dean's Rags to Riches 1: New home

Deja: Angling Ace - neat, loves the outdoors, self-absorbed
_______________________________________________________________________
Day 1:

It was 8am on a Sunday morning. Spring had just settled in. After her plane ride to get to the island, Deja Dean didn't have enough simoleons for a cab, so she walked all the way from the landing pad the locals called an airport (that was really just hard-packed sand and a small hut with a ground-to-sky traffic radio) to her new home. Her new home that cost the entirety of her meager life-savings.

It was a misty morning, and eerily quiet in the woods she was walking through - kind of half-jungle, half-forest of trees and bushes, with some palm trees reaching up over the lower canopy. The only sounds were her feet crunching in the sand as she walked, and the constant "shwushing" sound of the waves rushing in and retreating from the beaches that were pretty much all around her, being on an island.  When she finally emerged from the jungle-like woods, she saw the ocean and her little strip of beach.
Her new home.
She went to the center of the beach and looked around. Straight ahead was an inlet and on the other side was more jungle, palm trees and a docked sail boat. She imagined there was a small hut or house somewhere in those woods. On her left the jungle sloped down directly to the ocean, and on her right was the path that led her down here. There was a small rusty mailbox sticking up out of the sand that marked this as her home plot.

She was all alone; she knew no one on this island, and she had not one single simoleon to her name, but she had this gorgeous view to look at while she figured out what to do about it.

Wanting to get started making simoleons right away, she walked her beach looking for shells and collectibles to sell. She began sifting through the sand.

She found a foul dead fish, which she figured she could use for bait, an upgrade part, and a crab that quickly tried to scuttle away. She was just about to grab it when a seagull snatched it up and flew away. As it was her best prospect for dinner she flew into a rage. She let out a primal screech and kicked the sand in frustration. She tried to calm herself down when she noticed something glinting in the sun at her feet. Her anger forgotten, she bent down and brushed away the sand. The glint came from an aquamarine stone on a silver chain. She picked it up and polished the stone with her shirt. The darker blue inside the stone seemed to move like water. It was beautiful.

She put it in her pocket and looked up to see a woman coming down her path carrying a large bowl. Her skin was deeply tanned and she was wearing a bathing-suit top with a sleeveless hoodie over it and shorty-shorts. Her glorious mane of hair was up in a bun on the top of her head. Obviously a local.

She didn't look thrilled but she was there so Deja rushed over to welcome her. Her name was Oliana Ngata, and she congratulated Deja on moving in. Soon Oliana was joined by a tall person named Alika Kahananui and a slender blonde woman named Leila Illes.

The bowl, according to Oliana, held Kava, a local drink, and offered a cup to Deja and the others. Deja tasted it. It was woodsy but lightly sweet, and she thought it tasted wonderful. Deja did her best to be a good host, but it was embarrassing to have nothing but a suitcase with her clothes in it to offer for a seat.

While talking with her new friends, the mist dissipated and the sun came out, and her breath caught in her throat. Her beach was glorious. It was the most gorgeous place she had ever seen in her life!

After a while she felt close enough to her new neighbors to ask them about the stone she found. Oliana said it looked kind of like a "heart of Sulani" stone, but it was unlikely as they were very rare. Deja quickly stuffed it back into her pocket as they changed the subject to local fishing spots.

Finally the welcome wagon left her beach. She went digging through the sand again to find more items of value. She found some seashells that cleaned up nicely in the salt water. She walked back into town and found a couple of tourists that surprisingly gave her 220 simoleons for them. She bought a trash can to clean up the mess left by the welcome wagon and enough building materials to start on a hut of her very own.  She felt hungry and still had 25 simoleons left, so she headed for an adorable little bar with outdoor seating and tikki torches called "the Sand Bar."

She grabbed some chips she was delighted to find were free, and chatted with the cute bartender Paka'a Uha. Paka'a was unaffected by Deja's harmless flirting, however, so she finished her chips and headed back to her home lot.

She wished she had used the restrooms at the bar, though, because she hadn't even thought of installing plumbing yet. She went to the furthest corner of her lot and used an inviting bush to relieve herself.

All in all, it was a GREAT first day on her own.

She got started erecting her hut, hoping to do some fishing before dark.

Poor, Poor Michael Bachelor

So.

I was playing The Sims 3.

I decided to play with the Bachelor Family; the family that produced one of the most famous Sims to ever exist, Bella Goth.

Bella (Bachelor right now as she's a CHILD and not married yet) has a big brother Michael. Michael and Bella both needed to travel to France to experience a foreign country and bring back some things for school.

Their parents have good money so they can afford to do a trip like this.

I had the entire family go to France and had everyone except Bella do adventures, because they all needed Visa points and Bella was too young to do adventures yet. She did make some good friends and hunted for frogs out in the river. She had fun.

So anyway Michael, by luck of the draw, had a particular quest where he had to go look around the Museum D'Art to see if he could find a reason why all the security guards kept quitting. I'm sure if you play Sims 3 "World Adventures" you've done this quest. After a few interviews with current and previous security guards and some looking around, Michael found (*****SPOILER ALERT***** --really? for a 10+ year-old game? HECK YES I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF TRYING NOT TO HAVE STRANGERVILLE SPOILED FOR ME SO YEAH, ******SPOILER ALERT***** -- you never know) that the museum was actually being haunted by the spirit of a curator that got trapped deep under the museum while investigating a sarcophagus. Michael had done all the work on this quest, did all the running around, and it seemed like the only thing this spirit wanted was for his (or her) remains to be taken to the old cemetery to be laid to rest with his (or her) family. So Michael, brave little TEENAGER, carefully collected the remains, pretty much an entire SKELETON, and began to haul them to the cemetery. He was ALMOST THERE when ........

The vacation ended.

Now in this game the sims don't get any time to prepare to go home. They are unceremoniously RIPPED from whatever they happen to be doing, SHOVED on a plane, and sent home.

Apparently they don't have any kind of customs, either, because when Michael got home (and like a good boy immediately got started on his homework) I started going through the spoils of his adventures and was a little horrified to realize he TOOK THE BONES OF THE DEAD CURATOR HOME WITH HIM.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

So yeah, Jetlag is an ailment that prevents Sims from traveling so it will be a MINIMUM of three days before Michael can even get this dead person back to his home country (assuming they have enough money to even send him back so soon!), bones that are ESTABLISHED to be HAUNTED, and until then I don't see any choice but to force this poor TEENAGE CHILD to CARRY AROUND this haunted skeleton.

As an avid reader of Stephen King I can't imagine what kinds of horrible things will happen to the teenager that refused the angry spirit's last wish of being reunited with it's family and instead took it ACROSS AN OCEAN and will just carry it around.

I know a lot about Bella....not so much about Micheal. The original Bachelor family I haven't played in like 20 years lol. There is a slight chance this is something Micheal just loves to be a part of, I don't know.

It kind of sucks that this didn't happen around Halloween-time because that would be really fun to write an entire story around this happening, but as it is I haven't recovered from the horror of finding out Michael accidentally packed a DEAD BODY to take home lmao.

I'll bet the school wasn't expecting him to bring back THAT for show-and-tell!

ENJOY MY RIDICULOUS SIMS! lol

My Sims's Adventure for the Day

I played a random house just for the hey of it because it had been so long since I've been able to play I didn't want to delve into my stories and the Sims I've been playing for a year now.
I actually forget the name of the family, I literally just picked a house at random from Riverview.
I got a newlywed family with a brand-new house they got super cheap.
They were a little surprised at the sheer size of the house considering how cheap they got it, but they were so happy to be starting their lives off right!

First kiss on the new property.

The paperboy's view on witnessing a public display of affection, lol.

Enjoying their first night with a brand-new hot tub in their new house!

Things were going pretty well at first, until weird noises started waking them up at night. Specifically, the husband. He was a light sleeper anyway and it was getting too hard to get a good night's rest.

Soon they were being visited by a creepy little girl-ghost!

She would just appear as if she lived there! She would holler and make loud noises and just scare the husband and wife left and right!

Eventually while gardening the wife found a grave. It said it belonged to an older man that died of starvation.

The husband while exploring some of the extra rooms found an urn with ashes in it.

The wife was looking into the house's history and found out a large family had lived on the property and every single member had died on the lot!

Finally the wife confronted the little girl's ghost and found out she had died by drowning. Her grave was found and cleared of vegetation.

It ended up being a really weird but a really interesting play!
Sorry I couldn't write better today...feeling sick yo.

Finally Snapped in the Loony Bin

Pictures from the fire:

Talking with the firesim

trying to get ahead at work

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

I dreamt of unicorns, dragons and the Loch-Ness Monster. Oh, and a Yeti.
Pamela wore her fur coat today.

Shockingly...(sarcasm) the computer was broken. I did a quick fix then worked in my garden. Terry came out and helped for a little bit, but then she got distracted and left. Maybe she saw the moon?

Pamela was talking to the toilet. Why does everyone talk to the John? What am I missing? It doesn't say anything to me.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

I stayed up too late last night. I think I went to bed around 3:30am. Pamela was yelling at Jevon for sleeping on the couch. Then she started baby-talking to him, then made fun of him.

Now she's talking about him behind his back.....to the window.

Sometimes this place feels like a prison. I can't go anywhere except to work Could I actually go crazy in here? I'm going to go to bed early.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

I had to go to work without a shower!! My theatrical cohabitants all made sure to tell me what they thought of my scent! Well tough! Someone has to earn the simoleons!

Pam blocked my way to the shower to tell me how much I stank. She is still there now. Annoying.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Lamar helped me in the garden today. That's really surprising considering he is a couch potato.

Edna wouldn't let me get a shower. The woman showers in her bathing suit. Speaking of bathing suits, Susan came to visit me and Rahsaan answered the door wearing his!! Thank goodness it isn't a speedo! There was a line to the bathroom again.

talking to the toilet AGAIN!!

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Had to fix the PC this a.m.! Business as usual today at the science lab. When it was time to leave Susan told me I was doing so well I got another promotion! I am now a Carnivorous Plant Tender. I get to take care of the Cow Plant!!
She didn't tell me how or why a spot opened up so quickly, but I will definitely take the pay raise!

~*~~*~

There was a line to the bathroom AGAIN!! Having one toilet for eight sims SUCKS! I went to work knowing they have a bathroom there. I worked hard today. They gave me a bonus for some of my produce. Unfortunately, a few days ago (or was it a week?) I forgot my lunch in the work fridge. I guess it got a little smelly and scientists were called in to clean up "the biohazard." The entire breakroom had to be closed for decontamination. EVERYONE thinks I'm a loser!
I hid in the specimen closet for the rest of the day!!

 Newly appointed Cow Plant Tender!

I got permission to go to the bookstore today. I bought every single book on fishing I could buy. The lady at the cash register looked at me funny, but a lot of Sims do, so why do I care?
I got all the way home and realized I bought the wrong book!! So I had to go back. Luckily they exchange!

~*~

I have had it. A line at the fridge and I was STARVING!! I yelled, I screamed and I called a few insane, I admit it. Anything for some FOOD! I couldn't take it anymore. I'm the only one working and I need to starve?

*~~*
I was late for work. I had to take a cab. I think staying in this loony bin is getting to me. I hung out with my coworkers to get a sense of normalcy. I came here and sat on the toilet cuz it was the only place I could be alone.

Then Jevon came out and yelled at me for being rude to everyone yesterday. He didn't want to hear that I had a bad day, cuz they all have to spend every day there and can't leave at all.
I tried to say I was sorry but he wasn't having it.

 *~~~*

I went to work with a new mindset. I volunteered to help Susan with her research. I will try to be a better person and friend. Susan was impressed with my help and promoted me to Aquatic Ecosystem Tweaker. I will be dealing with fish. Well it's a good thing I bought those fishing books!

*~.~*~.~*

I made grilled cheese for everyone. They were less  than appreciative but they ate it. Terry let me use the bathroom before her. I went to sleep very satisfied.

The Tragedy of Gwen & Holden

Back in 2009 my husband bought me a game I had been hearing about for a year or so, a game I wanted more than I ever wanted any other game ever (except maybe, MAYBE.....Skyrim lol, but AT THE TIME it was the game I wanted more than any other in my life).
My husband loves me so he bought it for me (and probably instantly regretted it lmao) and I installed it on my computer and then started playing immediately.
The game: The Sims 3
I had played The Sims for YEARS before that and loved it.
I never played Sims 2.
I booted up Sims 3 and realized very quickly that it was COMPLETELY different from the Sims (1) so I started up the tutorial family. You can pick whichever starter family you want, and I saw two roommates called Gwen and Holden.
Gwen Glover and Holden Wonzy, and the story was they were roommates but could anything happen between them?
I am generally a "non-shipper" (I don't believe if you put a (straight) male and female together in any form [work, ei "The X-files" {we see how well that worked out lol}, roomates, anything] that means they will get together. I believe human beings can be friends and not end up couples) so I went with Gwen and Holden being friends and Gwen was my main character because honestly Holden was boring. Holden was working part-time at the book store and writing in his spare time.
Gwen went into politics and was actually doing pretty well. She was bubbly and outgoing and was friends with the entire town. She went on a few dates but nothing ever really clicked with anyone.
So she got to talking with Holden one night and they had a really nice night together just talking and eventually Holden got up the courage to kiss her and they were an insta-couple.
They were my first ever Sims so everything they did was a first for me, too. First woo-hoo, first engagement, first wedding, first baby. Everything was amazing.
When Gwen was pregnant with her second child (they had two daughters, no sons) she quit her job and stayed home with the kids, while Holden supported them all with his writing.
Soon enough the girls were grown and their oldest daughter even had a baby of her own and Gwen Glover was my very first ever Sims (3) death. She passed of old age and when the Reaper came for her she was just as happy to meet him as anyone. Everyone else was heartbroken but it was okay because she had such an amazing life.
(And soon Gwen was my first ghost!)
~*~
SO
After such an amazing experience with my first Sim family Gwen and Holden became the standard for a happy Sim family for me.
I played many other families with many other stories but no family ever had the same magic as Gwen and Holden.
One day I got a new computer and re-installed the Sims and played Gwen and Holden again. I called them my Gwen & Holden clones. Their love story was just as magical but I kept it on the "epic" timeline so they would basically never age. They once again had an amazing life.

The time came in my real life where I had a dumb idea to "upgrade" (and I use that term very loosely) to Windows 10 and had to reinstall the Sims AGAIN (and hopefully for the last time but I'll never quit it is my favorite computer game ever). I thought, hey, I'll use Gwen and Holden 3 to try out some real estate things, because I've never really messed with real estate.
I gave them their starter house.

They stayed roommates for their starter house, and I didn't have them become a couple until their second house.
Gwen was very successful in her job and making some decent money so I gave her a makeover. I never did that with her before because she was just so cute the way she was.
Gwen's new look:

Once I installed World Adventures I had Gwen start travelling. Holden was more of a homebody anyway and I think travelling abroad is more fun when you can concentrate on just one single Sim.

Gwen at Dragon Cave in Shang Simla, China

Everything was going great and Holden finally popped the question and OF COURSE Gwen said yes. She had never even dated anyone else, she had eyes only for Holden.
After a while and a few more trips overseas I noticed suddenly Holden acting kind of funny. He seemed grumpy most of the time, and Gwen couldn't cheer him up like she used to.

It culminated in one day Holden (with NO command from ME, btw) approached Gwen and accused her of cheating on him!!

I could not believe it! She never cheated on him (that I was aware of)! I didn't realize this could happen in the game!

At first Gwen was angry and let him stew in his own juices until he realized he was wrong and the only man she had ever loved (in this life and two past lives!!).

But all too quickly Gwen and Holden's relationship deteriorated to the point where he couldn't stand to be in the house with her and he moved out.

POOR GWEN!!

She was HEARTBROKEN!!

I felt SO BAD for her!!

I finally gave her a new makeover to try to make her feel better, then had her travel some more. Nothing like a new look and fresh new faces to cheer sweet Gwen up!

But it has been real hard going. She cried on shoulders of new friends and old friends alike.

There is still hope for Gwen and Holden, I guess, but it might be time for her to try to move on. She might be able to find love again, but somewhere deep in her dreams she will always remember a love so deep she can't define it, and dancing in the rain with her one true love.

R.I.P Gwen & Holden.

Sims 3 Asylum Challenge Part 3: House Fire and getting closer to the residents.

***Note*** All photos for this challenge were lost. :(

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Someone attempted to cook and started a fire. No one was helpful. I called the fire department and the fire fighters could barely make it through the crowd of screaming crazy people.

I don't even know why someone was trying to cook when we have leftovers in the fridge!! THANKFULLY no one was hurt.

~*~--~*~--~*~

Thursday: There's a lot of accidents around here. It's gross. I decided to try and make some friends at work before Landgraab tells everyone I'm in the looney bin. It worked out pretty well because Susan gave me a raise and a chance to do some extra work! She gave me a TV to fix. I met Gobias Koffi, then Susan promoted me! I am now a lab tech!

I came home to find the sink broken and Jevon, Terry, and Pamela all mopping up a flooded floor that kept flooding out of the busted sink. Gotta love 'em for trying, anyway. I got it fixed.

--~*~--

Friday: Someone broke the computer. I took at whack at fixing it but I'm not sure I got very far. I gave Susan her fixed TV (at work).  Susan gave me some seeds so I can learn how to garden for work. I am planting them today.

(later) Okay, today has SUCKED! I tried to clean the bathroom and upgrade the toilet but EVERYONE came in there demanding that I leave!

I tried to eat and EVERYONE came into the kitchen also to eat! I tried to go to bed and Terry was in there singing! Today just didn't work out at all.

--~*~--

I think I'm the only one that's slept in the same bed every since I got here. I FINALLY got a shower!I started working on making the stove fireproof in order to prevent the fire department from having to make another visit. I don't need my stay to be extended because the court doesn't think I can keep these people safe.

Excited for work tomorrow!

--~*~--
Monday: I couldn't take a shower before work because the entire household was in the bathroom again! I had to go to work a stinking mess! And of all days it's the day I'm assisting my boss, Susan! Uggggg. Luckily Susan blamed the dirty equipment for the smell and gave me the task of cleaning it up for extra money! So phew!!

--~*~--

Tuesday: I got promoted today! I am now a Useless Contraption Manipulator.

Pamela cleaned a little. I'm so glad she seems to be getting better.

"They" broke the computer again.

--~*~--

Thursday: Edna helped me with the garden this morning. She's a sweet lady.

I spent $1,000 on books today. I can't help it! It's the only thing I have for entertainment!

I couldn't take a shower because Terry was busy yelling at the rug and she refused to leave until it answered her.

Rahsaan was arguing with the fridge, but he at least let me get some leftovers out of it!

--~*~--

Jevon was sneaking around trying to scare people today. I'm done. I've had enough for the day and I'm going straight to bed.

--~*~--

I got promoted!! I am now a fertilizer analyst.

--~*~--

Saturday: As good a cleanup day as any! I also need to fix the toilet. Yet. Again.

After a long day of cleaning ALL I wanted was a hot shower. My shower thoughts revolved around my fellow housemates. These guys aren't too bad. They mostly make their beds and wash their dishes. It could be a lot, lot worse.  Thanks guys.

My Sims adventure for the day:

So I got to play Sims today. Super-exciting since I don't usually get to play anymore.

Right now the only expansion pack I have installed is World Adventures.

I made a "trash" Sim to play with (one without a story line) that I called "Fatass" (since I'm so nice and all) and let her do pretty much whatever she wanted. Her life's ambition was to travel the world and take photos of everything. So she traveled a lot.

Over the simyears she collected a vast variety of objects, and she had enough experience with artifacts that she decided to start putting together some broken pieces to see what she came up with. The first thing she put back together was a diving well. I was less than impressed with this thing, but it LOOKED cool on her property, so I left it.

The next item she reconstructed was a sarcophagus of the kings.

This thing ruined her life (and it's kind of my fault.)

She had the day off and after her usual bout of gardening and writing assignments she decided to look at this thing to see what it could do (i.e. I clicked on it to see what it could do). It gave the options of "sleep," "woohoo with...." and "try for a baby with..."

I as the Simgoddess in question thought to myself, "wow, it says I can try for a baby but no one is here so that must mean there's a chance I can have a mummy-baby!!" So of course I clicked on it. Never mind the fact that after playing Sims 3 for close to 20 years I had NEVER seen or heard of a mummy baby (without mods).

[I am blaming lack of sleep for this btw]

So she went into the sarcophagus and then some random dude went in with her. I realized with horror that it was the MAID she had hired that I didn't even realize was on the lot!! THE MAID. (It was a male maid obs.)

So I started hoping she didn't get pregnant (because ew...some RANDOM dude? Some random dude that occasionally comes over and CLEANS MY HOUSE?!?) But no such luck.
 Pregnant.

Here's the thing...she had been spending quite a bit of time with a rich guy and not-so-subtly pursuing him. After weeks of flirting and dropping massive hints that she wanted him he finally told her he was married. She stopped flirting with him immediately although kept him as a friend. In fact, she hadn't even spoken to him except by phone for a long time.

So she figured her only shot at getting help with the upcoming baby was it's father, so she started going after the maid, as much as she hated herself for it. He proved to be very hard to woo. Finally she let him know he knocked her up and he was talked into moving in, even though he has shown little interest in an actual relationship.

As soon as he moved in the other sims in town started calling her "naughty" and a "cheater." She had no idea what was going on.

Then she realized that even though they were strictly platonic, the general population pretty much considered her and the rich guy a couple. She was very confused. She flirted with a rich married guy for weeks and no one said a thing. She backed off and moved in the guy that got her gravid and now suddenly she was the bad guy??

So she was depressed about that. The baby-daddy wasn't the slightest bit interested in a long-term relationship and she was depressed about that. A baby makes it kind of hard to travel the world to become a famous photographer, so she was depressed about that.

But, after she had the baby the ex-maid (oh yeah, he was definitely fired for fraternizing with the clients) ended up being very helpful with her new baby girl. He even took care of the infant while she went to Egypt for a big story.

The stress must've went to Egypt with her, though. She was attacked by a mummy and she beat the undead dust out of it. I mean, I have NEVER seen a Sim beat a mummy in a fight! They have like, eons of experience!! But she hit it so hard it was knocked clear out of the Simverse.

So we will see what the future brings my sweet little Fatass (Now with ex-maid's last name so not actually "Fatass" anymore. :p)
